Challenge Citadel
Challenge Citadel is a community-driven quiz platform. You can test your knowledge across categories, climb the leaderboard, submit your own quizzes, and help improve question quality by rating and reporting errors.
Points
How scoring works
Points are calculated from two factors: how accurately you answered a quiz, and how difficult that quiz was. Only your first attempt at each quiz counts towards your leaderboard score.

Level system
You earn XP (experience points) from playing quizzes, unlocking achievements, and keeping streaks. Your total XP determines your level. Only your first attempt at a quiz gives full XP; repeat attempts give 25% XP (both capped per attempt).
- Quiz XP: Your points from the formula above are converted to XP. First attempt: 5–500 XP per quiz; repeat: 1–125 XP.
- Level thresholds: Level 1 starts at 0 XP. Each next level requires more total XP (curve: 100 × (level − 1)²). So: L2 at 100 XP, L3 at 400, L4 at 900, L5 at 1600, etc.
Challenges and extra XP
Extra XP can come from the Daily and Weekly challenges, and from achievements (including streak milestones).
Daily Challenge
One spotlight quiz per day (Amsterdam time). Play it with a counted attempt to participate. Completing it can unlock the Daily Player achievement (+25 XP).
Weekly Challenge
You only get points the first time you play each quiz this week—replays of the same quiz don't count toward the weekly leaderboard. Taking part can unlock the Weekly Challenger achievement (+25 XP).
Streaks & achievements
Play at least one (counted) quiz on consecutive days to build a streak. Streak milestones grant XP: 3 days (+30 XP), 7 days (+100 XP), 30 days (+500 XP). Many other achievements (first quiz, 100% accuracy, rating questions, sharing, etc.) also grant XP; check your Progress page.
Community
How the platform grows
Challenge Citadel is built around community contributions. Anyone can play, but registered players can do much more:
- ✓Submit a quiz on any topic. Once approved by an admin, it appears for everyone
- ✓Rate each question 1 to 5 stars after answering it
- ✓Leave a comment when giving a low rating to flag unclear or incorrect questions
- ✓Earn the Contributor role automatically after your first approved quiz
Admins and superusers review submitted quizzes, resolve reported feedback, and can rate individual question difficulty, which automatically moves questions into difficulty-tiered quiz pools.
